Natural History of Georgia Plants-- Online Course

Designed Spring 2014, taught Fall 2014 and 2015 at UGA

I am working with my advisor to modify an undergraduate course on Georgia Plants for an online format. The course incorporates project-based learning, activities with online maps and resources, and virtual field trips. Students learn about the diversity of Georgia ecosystems from coast to mountains, as well as the human and ecological factors that cause environmental change.

Plant Science Outreach Lessons

Hilsman Middle School, 7th grade Agriscience. Spring 2011 - 2015

I co-organize and participate in a volunteer outreach program at a local 7th grade agriscience classroom. We create and implement a series of weekly lessons on basic plant science, with topics ranging from genetic inheritance to drought tolerance. I strive to use hands-on exploratory activities to help illustrate complex ecological themes in a fun way. The three lesson plans below are activities that I have led for multiple years and modified according to student feedback.
